Your death will be confirmed by any neurologist if you have brain death as in such case your brain completely stops to work and your breathing is also completely stopped. You must note here that if you go to coma then it is not considered as brain death. However, if your brain stops acting totally then you are declared dead and your body will be provided with life-support so that your organ remains active for removal.

Your hospital’s duty will be to inform the necessary agency who procure the organ and they will confirm whether you are indeed a registered organ donor. The agency representative will come and collect all personal and medical history of you from your family in order to do the necessary paperwork.

Agency will then find the recipient of the organ from the database of those people who are waiting for various organs and their various medical parameters will be matched with you so that matching recipient can be determined. Also, it is necessary that geographical proximity of the recipient must be close so that the organ can be sent quickly. The doctors of the agency will then prepare for surgical procedure to transport your organs that you decided to donate.
