You have to set the right conditions for getting a good night’s sleep every night. Try never to go immediately from using your computer or phone to jumping into bed. The last thing you want to do is lie in bed working on your smartphone, thinking you can drift off to sleep when you’re ready to. Cell phones, iPads and laptops use the blue light spectrum on their displays. They can cause eye strain and mental fatigue very quickly without you noticing it. Your mental faculties actually have to try to adjust to this light while you are using these devices. After you’re done using them, your eyes and mind have to readjust once again. This takes time, and it can keep you awake as a result.
Having the right mattress can also make a world of difference on how well you sleep at night. Cheap mattresses produce pressure points that cause you aggravation during sleep, causing disturbances in your sleep patterns. You tend to wake up often during the night if the mattress you’re sleeping on is not as comfortable as it could be. Doing everything in your power to ensure a good night’s sleep will keep you healthy for years to come.
